The RN Quality Specialist will concurrently/retrospectively review, and abstract core measures required by CMS/TJC. The RN Quality Specialist will concurrently/retrospectively review, and abstract measures related to disease specific programs as required by certification designation. Data will be entered into the current software package used for data measures within established deadlines. The RN Quality Specialist will provide quality reports to various committees. The RN Quality Specialist will (participate or Co)-chair/facilitate committees/teams as requested by the Quality/Accreditation Manager. Data collection and analysis skills are integrated to be utilized in the performance improvement (PI) process, as well as other responsibilities of the position. The Joint Commission, CMS, and other regulatory bodies include regulatory compliance activities are a part of the RN Quality Specialist-Regulatory position. Engages in performance improvement projects to support quality/regulatory priorities in fulfilling the vision and mission that lead to regulatory compliance, high quality organization, patient safety, and operational excellence as directed. RN Quality Specialist also helps support maintaining highest level of compliance with other organizations such as Leapfrog, IBM Watson, and others that impact quality and patient safety. Participates in quality rounds, co-chairs Quality/Safety Committees and help reports data as required for regulatory programs. The RN-Regulatory Quality Specialist reports to, works in concert with, and supports the Regional Director of Quality and Safety.

  • Concurrently/retrospectively review and abstract core measures as required by CMS.

  • Concurrently/retrospectively review and abstract measures related to disease specific programs as required by certification designation such as TJC Stroke

  • Concurrently/retrospectively review and abstract measures as required by registries such as GWTG

  • Provide quality reports utilizing abstraction software to director and various committees

  • RN Quality Specialist will (participate or Co)-chair/facilitate committees/teams as requested by the Quality/Accreditation Manager.

  • Participate and Support in Joint Commission Accreditation and all certification, accreditation, and regulatory programs as directed per manager.

  • Participate in day-to-day regulatory compliance work activities such as regulatory rounds as directed per manager.

  • Participates in quality committees providing reports as required for regulatory programs.

  • Maintains a working knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations, as well as other policies and procedures in order to ensure adherence in quality and safety.

  • Helps to identify problems, offer solutions, and participate in their resolution regarding quality and safety events.

Minimum Qualifications (Education/Experience/Licensure/Certification/Skills):

  • RN Licensure-Associate Degree or Diploma in Nursing from an accredited school of nursing

  • Bachelor’s degree in Nursing preferred.

  • BLS certification required.

  • Minimum of five years of acute care hospital clinical care experience required.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Demonstrated presentation and facilitation skills.

  • Must be able to work independently and on a team. Has the ability to use problem-solving, critical thinking and priority setting skills.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office, data base management, spreadsheets, internet skills and e-mail.
