Trinity Health Hospitalist Coordinator - Part-time - Evenings in Waterloo, Iowa

Position Purpose:

Serves as the primary contact for day-to-day operations, providing coordination, operational support and intervention for all functions related to the hospitalist department. Provides coordination and training to new hospitalist department colleagues and providers in conjunction with other department content specialists/trainers. Works jointly with various health system departments/operations to ensure coordinated workflow of patient admissions, consults, discharges throughout the health system. Coordinates monthly/quarterly physician schedules for two hospitals.

What you will Do:

  • Ensures efficient operation of the Hospitalist office.

  • Contributes feedback towards the selection, training, development, and assessment of providers.

  • Facilitates policies and procedures and maintains a consistent presence in the office and on nursing units to build positive relations with providers, nurses, case managers and other departments, gathering information to assist in workflows to reduce pages and duplicate workflows, etc.

  • Proactively partners with other departments/operations to streamline processes.

  • Works closely with administration, attends designated meetings, and participates in recording of minutes and attendance.

  • Answers telephones, directs calls, places pages and takes messages as needed.

  • Adheres to all safety, infection control and colleague health policies and procedures.

Hours/Schedule:

.5 FTE, 40 hour per pay period; typical hours are in the evenings 4:00pm to 7:30pm but may vary; this position may require some weekends and holidays.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Performance requires ability to multitask, transition quickly and adapt to a constantly changing pace.

  • Must possess excellent & effective interpersonal communication skills - listening, verbal and written; required ability to work well in a very diverse environment.

  • Must possess excellent creative and positive problem-solving skills.

  • Projects positive behavior to department staff and guests as evidenced by direct observation and feedback from others.

  • Must be well organized and possess the ability to work with minimal supervision, which includes setting one's own priorities and actively seeking direction in case of conflict.
