Trinity Health Unit Clerk - Progressive Care Unit in Syracuse, New York

POSITION SUMMARY:

  • Performs all duties including, but not limited to typing and PC applications, filing, business machine functions, telephone, and written communications, and assists in the facilitation of quality patient care in collaboration with the Registered Nurse.

  • Performs tasks that do not require nursing judgements or administration of medications.

  • The Unit Clerk will float throughout the Medical Surgical division

EDUCATION, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATION AND LICENSURE:

High school graduate or equivalent, business school or formal secretarial training a plus. One to two years’ minimum experience preferred. Patient care experience, mechanical aptitude and manual dexterity preferred.

BLS/CPR certification and first aid training required.

Participates in orientation and continuing education and updates and maintains knowledge and skills related to specific areas of expertise.

SPECIAL EQUIPMENT, SKILLS, OR OTHER REQUIREMENTS:

PC and appropriate software knowledge, knowledge of office equipment and supplies. A solid understanding of department related terminology. Good communication skills both oral and written as well as good interpersonal skills required. Customer service oriented. Service specific skills.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND HAZARDS:

Office/Clinical setting. Exposure class I.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

Light to Medium work (depending on the unit assignment). Requires standing, walking, sitting, lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying.

WORK CONTACT GROUP:

All services, employees, medical staff, patients, visitors, vendors, various regulatory and professional agency staff.

SUPERVISED BY:

Nursing management

Pay Range: $17.25 - $25.00

Pay is based on experience, skills, and education. Exempt positions under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) will be paid within the base salary equivalent of the stated hourly rates. The pay range may also vary within the stated range based on location.
