Description:

POSITION SUMMARY

Obtains information from patients. Obtains patient signatures as outlined according to procedure. Explains health care policies and procedures to patients. Assigns rooms and prepares records of admissions and outpatient services.

JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Obtain personal and financial information and signatures on insurance and consent forms from patients or family members. Witness signature of forms.

  • Assign rooms to patients and explain hospital policies and procedures when necessary. Explain Advance Directives to patients/families. Initiate patient transfers. Escort or make arrangements to have patient escorted to department.

  • Prepares records of admission and outpatient services. Verifies all demographic and insurance information. Prepares charts, labels, and identification bands when applicable.

  • Meet and greet visitors in the outpatient department. Register outpatients as necessary.

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Well developed communication skills, both written and oral. Able to communicate effectively with individuals and groups representing diverse perspectives.

  • Prior employment in a health care environment preferred.

  • Knowledge of medical terminology.

  • Knowledge and ability to use computer applications. Ability to complete data entry functions.

  • Articulates and demonstrates commitment to the philosophy, values, mission and vision of the organization.

SHIFT

Variable from 6am-11pm. Some weekends and holidays.
