Description:

Charge Nurse Prinicpal Responsibilities

Participates with unit leadership in development and improvement of departmental processes.

Facilitates patient flow both in and out of the Emergency Department as well as enhances teamwork by providing guidance and support to all staff.

Takes responsibility for Outcomes Management, ensures that patient care is optimal and timely and that patient outcomes are within defined parameters.

Participates with unit leadership in development of Service Line initiatives and guiding staff in succesfully completing process change.

Exhibits positive service excellence skills to patients, visitors and colleagues by greeting others in a friendly manner, keeping them informed about progress, delays and changes..

Demonstrates stewardship by thoughtful and responsible use of resources including maintaining a clean and hospitable environment, starting work on time, maintaining good attendance and displaying a conscientious attitude towards costs, supplies and departmental finances.

Actively participates in Shared Governance activities through direct participation on committees, counsels or work groups. Facilitates unit-based meetings.

Maintains awareness of department operations on all shifts/days. Reviews minutes and obtains reports to ensure accurate knowledge. Accepts accountabiliity for staying informed about changes in the unit, in the service line and the organization.
