Description:
Position Purpose:
Performs laboratory testing, verifying results using knowledge of principles, QC, and instruments and interprets results based on physiology. Recognizes and solves problems using skills and technical knowledge.
What You Will Do:
Performs and reports all assigned tests with expected precision and accuracy and obtains blood or other body fluid from patients.
Operates computer equipment and software programs relative to performance of essential job functions and other laboratory related requirements
Performs, records and evaluates all required quality control results.
Maintains, calibrates, troubleshoots, and repairs laboratory equipment with accurate records.
Prepares specimens and requisitions for reference laboratory testing, maintains logs and performs distribution of results.
Performs timely reconciliation of daily charges to assure accuracy of billing, makes corrections as necessary on appropriate system, and credits examinations according to guidelines set forth by department policy and procedure.
Maintains an inventory of supplies in the assigned area.
Performs clerical duties as required (answering phone, filing, delivering mail, etc.)
Provides competent patient care to the above indicated patient populations by obtaining and appropriately interpreting data, making appropriate decisions based on demonstrated knowledge of age-specific growth and development, and appropriately adapting procedures and treatments.
Performs other responsibilities as requested by the Laboratory Supervisor or Regional Laboratory Manager, and performs all duties and responsibilities as outlined in CLIA regulations.
Hours/Schedule:
36 hours/week; Weekdays, Rotating Weekends and Holidays, and on-call.
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor of Science degree is required.
MLS (ASCP) registry or international equivalent is required within six months of employment. To be eligible to sit for the exam you must have successfully completed a MT internship
Membership and active participation in professional organization are desirable.
Previous experience is preferred.
