Train on-the-job to become a Central/Sterile Processing Technician!

What You Will Do:

  • Sterile Processing Trainee (SPT) Trainee role; performs central processing duties while studying toward certification, within limits of current training; work is guided and overseen by a Professional Development Specialist, Supervisor, and certified Central/Sterile Processing Specialists.

  • Works in a collaborative environment to deliver excellent patient care under the direction of a certified professional in the central processing department.

  • Upon completion of the training program, team member will be able to perform all of the basic aspects of a Central/Sterile Processing Technician, including, but not limited to: Decontamination, instrument inspection, assembly, wrapping, sterilization, case cart assembly and basic inventory management.

  • May be required to enter an active surgical case to pick up and/or deliver instruments for a needed case. This will require a basic knowledge of a sterile field and moving within a sterile environment. Will be required to document worked performed within various computer applications and equipment logs.

What the Sterile Processing Trainee (SPT) will need:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.

  • Certification in Central Service Processing required within eighteen (18) months of completion of the training program, CBSPD or IAHCSMM
