Job Summary

  • Collaborates with members of health care team to provide outpatient and some inpatient medical nutrition therapy in accordance with established standards of care.

  • Identifies patients at risk and assesses nutrition needs according to age specific physiological and developmental assessment criteria.

  • Designs, coordinates and implements nutrition care plans, monitors outcomes of intervention and adjusts when indicated.

  • Provides nutrition education to patient and family to achieve goals of medical nutrition therapy.

  • Evaluates and maintains professional development/competency.

  • Supports the highest possible patient satisfaction levels, ensuing program effectiveness.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS AND CORE COMPETENCIES

Education: Bachelor's degree from Coordinated Program or Didactic Program in Dietetics and Dietetic Internship or Pre-professional Practice program all accredited by the Commission on Accreditation/Approval for Dietetics Education (CAADE) of the American Dietetic Association (ADA). Master’s degree strongly preferred. New graduates must complete minimum educational requirements within 6 months of hire.

Licensure: Active registration status with the State of Indiana and the Commission on Dietetic Registration of the American Dietetic Association is required. Active professional certification specific to practice specialty strongly preferred when applicable. New graduated must obtain registration within six months of hire.

Experience: Experience in general clinical dietetics practice desirable. One year’s experience in practice area preferred.
