Trinity Health CODING EDUCATOR TRAINER - Remote Opportunity in Maywood, Illinois

Description:

Responsible to ensure accurate CPT and/or ICD-10 documentation for the patient billing process. Responsible for educating colleagues and providers in accurately documenting services performed and using the appropriate codes representing those services. Maintains documentation regarding charge capture processes. Performs regular reviews of process adherence and identify missing charges. Coordinates with key stakeholders regarding impacts of system change requests and upgrades to processes to ensure capture accuracy. Provides oversight of charge reconciliation processes for assigned departments; ensuring daily and appropriate monthly reconciliations are occurring.

Performs charge entry, charge approvals, and/or quality charge reviews; including but not limited to, appending modifiers and checking clinical documentation. Work closely with Revenue Integrity staff and providers to educate on improved documentation to support coding.

The Coding Educator/Trainer is responsible for conducting coding and billing training to physicians, coders, and other interested personnel, including developing the curriculum and training materials, and assessing competency. Performs quality assurance reviews/audits with appropriate feedback. Monitors coding and billing regulations to assure compliance with governmental and payer regulations. Acts as a resource to PNO staff regarding coding issues.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS AND CORE COMPETENCIES

Education: Bachelor's Degree OR equivalent training acquired via work experience or education

Preferred: Bachelor's Degree Specify Degree(s): Registered Health Information Administrator or Registered Health Information Technician

Licensure/Certifications : Required: Certified Coding Specialist Physician Based (AHIMA) or Certified Professional Coder (AAPC)

Experience: Required: 3-5 years of previous job-related experience Preferred: 6-10 years of previous job-related experience Details: Experience with providing Physician/Non-physician practitioner education and training
