Trinity Health Speech Pathologist- Part Time Days- St Mary Medical Center in Langhorne, Pennsylvania

Description:

The Speech Pathologist is responsible for organizing and supervising all the functions of the Speech/Language Pathology Department and coordinating the service within the hospital continuum. Assesses, plans and implements the delivery of care. This professional speech language pathologist also assumes the responsibility and accountability for the delegation of patient care to other members of the health care team. Completion of CFY year required for application. Competence with VFSS is required. Competence with PMV and FEES is preferred.

Required: PA Speech and Language Pathologist License

  • Provides supervision for students and volunteers as required.

  • Maintains safe/orderly working environment for patients and staff.

  • Adheres to the code of ethics of the American Speech and Hearing Association and the Practice Act of the Commonwealth of PA.

  • Completes all documentation according to departmental policy and regulatory standards.

  • Develops a comprehensive plan of care and provides treatment with appropriate and effective techniques to achieve established goals with an emphasis on functional status

  • Assumes accountability for managing the delivery of patient care.

  • Interprets and utilizes clinical data in the treatment plan.

  • Performs and interprets modified barium swallow studies according to policy

  • Performs and interprets blue dye testing according to policy (i.e. tracheotomy and ventilator

  • Assesses current swallowing function in a variety of settings

  • Recommends specific safe swallowing precautions

  • Recommends diet according to patient needs

  • Progresses patient diet according to policy

  • Collaborates with patient/significant others when establishing goals and treatment plan.

  • Participates in the orientation and training of other healthcare team members

  • Incorporates education into daily patient activity, and individualizes educational plan based on patient's needs.
