Reporting to the Supervisor Wound & Hyperbaric, Wound & Hyperbaric Medicine, this position provides guidance to staff engaged in a variety of work related to the registration, scheduling and/or referral process for patients in the Wound and Hyperbaric department. The lead performs routine and more technically difficult tasks associated with all duties of the Administrative Specialists. This position is responsible for monitoring of key performance indicators across all staff on the shift including eligibility verification, registration quality, scheduling, referrals and employee engagement. The Lead role assists in the orientation process for new employees including participating with the manager/supervisor when interviewing candidates and orienting new employees on the department process and procedures. The incumbent is responsible for assisting with the creation of monthly department schedules for staffing including calling off employees, securing coverage for staff absences, and consulting with the manager to ensure appropriate staffing levels based on patient volumes and department need. The incumbent assists the manager with daily reports as needed, ensuring the department and staff are disaster- and downtime-ready, championing and implementing workflow process changes, and participating in performance improvement opportunities. Across all of these job functions, the incumbent must be compliant with all regulatory guidelines. This position communicates with other members of the wound care team relative to information flow, clinical inquiries and scheduling.

  1. High school diploma or equivalent is required.

  2. Three (3) years of related office/registration experience is required. Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience which

demonstrates proficiency in the skills and knowledge required to perform the job is preferred.

  1. Strong knowledge of Outpatient Registration, Scheduling and Referral services within the Outpatient hospital setting is required.

  2. Excellent judgment and critical thinking, as well as strong verbal and written communication skills, are required.

  3. Ability to follow and interpret oral and written instructions, institutional documents and policies is required.

  4. Ability to gather, analyze and display data in appropriate format and keep accurate records is required.

  5. Strong Knowledge of government payers and commercial insurance plans is required.

  6. Current American Heart Association (AHA) Healthcare Provider CPR card is required.

  7. Intermediate skills with business computer software applications such as Microsoft Word and Excel are preferred.

  8. Certified Healthcare Access Associate (CHAA) credentials by the National Association of Healthcare Access Management (NAHAM) and/or Certified Patient Account Technician (CPAT) credentials by the American Association of Healthcare Administrative Management (AAHAM) is preferred.

PAY RANGE:

$21.72 - 29.32
