About the Job

In this role, The Laboratory Liaison will be responsible for daily support of Laboratory Call Center operations and will provide communication between the various laboratory sections and laboratory customers. Customers include patients, physicians and nursing staff located in inpatient units, LUHS ambulatory facilities, home health agencies and outside clients.

Here is what you'll do

  • Receives telephone calls from laboratory customers including nurses and physicians regarding questions or concerns with laboratory services. The Liaison effectively responds to these concerns, identifies and performs the steps necessary for problem solving, Triages complex problems to the Lead Liaison, Laboratory Directors or Manager, as appropriate.

  • Contacts patients to explain the need for specimens to be re-collected. Exhibits compassion and understanding and ensures that the patient understands the need and options for repeat specimen collection. Problem solving, Triages complex problems to the Lead Liaison, Laboratory Directors or Manager, as appropriate.

  • Provides laboratory test results to customers including nurses and physicians in the hospital, ambulatory facilities, home health and outside clients. Advises customers on specimen collection requirements and test turnaround times for tests performed in LUHS laboratories and at outside reference labs.

Here's what you''ll need

Required:

  • High School Diploma plus training acquired through work experience or education

  • 1-2 years of previous job-related experience

  • Details: Prefer individuals with customer service experience in a healthcare setting
