GENERAL SUMMARY AND PURPOSE:

  • Responsible for the following key functions: financial analysis, planning, budgeting, and supporting the management team in the financial operations of the assigned hospitals.

  • Is a key member of the hospital's senior leadership team. Provides guidance in the strategic, operational, and capital decision-making processes as they relate to the hospital and related entities.

  • Works with the medical staff and other members of senior management on the ongoing development of the hospital's current major strategic initiatives.

  • Participates as part of the financial management team of SAHS to maintain the accountability and performance standards at each SAHS entity.

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance required.

  • Master's in Business Administration and/or Certified Public Accountant preferred.

  • Minimum of three years of relevant administrative experience (health care preferred) at a Management level.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Understands and exemplifies the mission and core values of Saint Alphonsus Regional Medical Center and the Trinity Health System.

  • Serves as a significant contributing team member in an executive environment where collegiality and sharing responsibility are highly valued.

  • Responsible and accountable for leadership and operational direction and excellence including achievement of the Priority Strategic Aims (PSAs) within Saint Alphonsus Health System.

  • As a member of the Senior Management Team, keeps the President and Board informed of all pertinent financial matters relating to the hospital.

  • Counsels the President and senior management on all long and short-term financial strategies necessary to achieve the organization’s mission and strategic plan goals and objectives.

  • In conjunction with other members of the Senior Management Team, plays a leadership role in the coordination and implementation of the strategic and financial analysis, planning and budgeting process.

  • In conjunction with the SAHS Finance and Accounting staff, works on the monthly closing of financial statements including all accounting estimates.

  • Formulates and oversees the financial policies and procedures for the hospital in accordance with corporate financial and managerial accounting policy and procedures, applicable regulatory requirements, generally accepted accounting principles, and sound financial management practices.

  • In collaboration with local clinical and administrative leadership, helps conceptualize, organize and implement the systems and processes necessary to address cost, quality and resource utilization management across the full continuum of care, in conjunction with corporate cost and managerial accounting initiatives.

  • As a key member of the SAHS Financial Team, works to ensure consistency across all SAHS entities in all financial, budgeting, and financial accountability functions.

  • In collaboration with the corporate reimbursement function and local leadership, continually evaluates processes to ensure maximization of third-party reimbursement in compliance with regulatory agencies and payers.

  • Performs other regional duties as assigned by the Regional CFO including participation on Councils and other committees including Trinity Health initiatives.

  • Is a member of the Trinity CFO council and participates in conference calls and meetings throughout the year.

  • Commitment to promoting a service orientation in the finance division.

  • Demonstrated ability to work efficiently with senior management and the directors and managers of the hospital.

  • Knowledge of health care operations, reimbursement methodologies, managed care-monitoring systems, health care outcomes measurement systems, utilization review methodology and managed care organization operations
