POSITION PORPOSE

  • The Pharmacy Leader (PL) is a licensed registered pharmacist accountable for leading, managing and advancing people, processes and / or programs that support direct or indirect patient care.

  • The position will support our services at Trinity Health Ann Arbor, Trinity Health Livingston and Brighton, Chelsea Hospital and Trinity Health Medical Center Canton. Direct reports include 7 Managers representing a department of over one-hundred professionals. (This is an on-site position).

  • The selected candidate will be responsible for providing leadership, oversight, direction, alignment, and standardization for acute care and ambulatory Pharmacy operations. Implements strategic and operational initiatives including new services/programs, revenue enhancement, expense reduction, managed care utilization systems, and strategies.

  • They will be responsible for ensuring performance excellence in terms of quality, safety, service, affordability, and technology.

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Leadership - Provides leadership & retains accountability for delegation, choices, decisions, and outcomes. Directs alignment and standardization for Pharmacy operations across the continuum of care to provide high-quality, cost-effective patient care in accordance with professional standards, regulatory and licensing agency policies, and federal and state laws related to the practice of Pharmacy.

  • Goals – Provides guidance with executive leaders, medical staff, and healthcare team to develop strategy, goals, objectives, and operational standards to ensure services and priority alignment. Responsible for the successful achievement of strategic objectives and goals and optimizing resources to achieve the desired outcomes.

  • Quality and Compliance- Creates and promotes a culture based on the principles of continuous quality improvement.

  • Finance - Ensures appropriate operational and capital budgets are prepared for Pharmacy related services. Influences effective, judicious, and financially responsible use of resources. Collaborates in identifying analytics and metrics to demonstrate baseline and performance improvement targets.

  • Pharmacy Operations – Responsible for medication safety measures and efficient operational processes. Initiates and supports business development and revenue integrity activities. Ensures compliance with the 340B program regulations, recommends opportunities, promotes community benefit, and optimizes contracting.

  • Clinical – Develops Clinical Pharmacy services, staff development program and education activities. Communicates appropriate medication use recommendations to appropriate committees (e.g., Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee) and aligns with System guidance. Oversees evaluation of drug products, medication utilization and therapeutic alternatives.

  • Professional Development – Responsible for training, education, coaching, and assessment of pharmacist competencies.

  • Procurement – Directs Pharmacy procurement activities including purchasing, receiving, storing, inventory, compounding and dispensing of pharmaceuticals, and investigational drugs across the SA continuum of care.

MINIUMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Pharmacy is required. Advanced or Master’s degree preferred (e.g., PharmD, MBA)

  • Experience: Minimum of seven (7) years’ experience as a pharmacist. Minimum three (3) years of pharmacy management experience. Management within a health-system required.

  • Licensure: Current pharmacist state licensure where employed. Obtain Michigan state licensure within 120 days of hire.
